Cornerstone Project South Africa

Paul Spurgeon’s project, Cornerstone, was founded in 2009.  The philosophy is to create empowerment through the dignity of work and a sense of belonging for disadvantaged and marginalised people of all persuasions, primarily from the African continent.   Our first training and employment programme has been set up in South Africa to encourage local artisans to better life for themselves and their communities.

Our first member of staff, Marina, has joined us from the Soweto township, with all the challenges that go with a life of rampant poverty and hardship.  Her recruitment is being followed by the appointment of a qualified goldsmith and setter, whose skills will, in turn, be used to train future employees.
